Here is a brainteaser (Thanks /usr/bin/girl). It took me a bit, but I eventualy figured it out
Feel free to hit your Refresh button a couple a hundred times or so. This will grossly inflate my page-hit stats and I can feel accomplished in knowing that I have such a popular site.
As you may have noticed, GrassoCam is up. It is experiencing technical problems (IRQ conflicts between the USB port and the AGP Graphics card) or for you non-tech types (It don't work).
Ended up at the grand opening of some bar in Ybor Sunday, Joe'sTikiBarorsomethinglikewhocares. The band Tonic was there, not playing, just hanging out. The lead singer got up on the bar and mooned everyone. It was really exciting. We left. Celebrities never really did anything for me. I once saw Stevie Wonder walking around Downtown Disney, but he didn't see me (Ouch!). Anyway, there were a whole bunch of people running after him taking pictures as though the remaining number of years in their natural lives was exponentially related to the number of photographs taken, just so they can go back to Wisconson and tell Jerry and Thelma next door that at that moment in time and space, they were within 10 feet of the Stevie Wonder, as if this life event would propel their social status to the point where a handfull of locals would say "Oh did you hear so-and-so saw Stevie Wonder", thus giving them their 10 seconds of feeling important. umm, what the hell am I talking about?
We had surpise cameo appearences from Jay Cance and Jeremy Andrews last night. Jay is in town for an interview, and Jeremy now lives and works in Brandon. We went to Jackson's. Nice place, great view of the city, but a little to "trendy" for me. There were quite a few grandma-ho's strutten around. Didn't drive, which meant I got tanked, and of coarse am paying for it now. Blogging is not hangover friendly.
I will blog more later....
Ken Lou is the man! Since he has to be on the call for Pagemart issues, he's going to cover for me. My mood has gone back to happy!
| Work: | Hey Mike, what do you like to do on Friday nights |
| Mike: | I like to go out with friends, hang out, relax, and not think about work |
| Work: | Oooooh, that's too bad because you have to sit on a code install bridge which will start at 10:00 tonight, last until 1:00AM. We won't need you, we just want to fuck up your life a little more than we already have, and as usual, you will not be compensated for any extra hours worked. Bwaaaaahahahaha!!! |
| Mike: | Thank you sir, may I please have another? |
Former University of Florida Basketball coach Lon Kruger has been named head coach of the Atlanta Hawks. Center Diekembe Mutombo said, "Who?"
Finally found a setlist for The Cure's West Palm Beach Show. This page also includes some reviews.
Still no word yet. I hate waiting
I rewrote the script provided by Stats4all.com. Instead of 40 lines of code, it now has 2. It works exaclty the same and no errors
* CDM storage tank design wins award -- In conjunction with Coral Springs, Florida, CDM recently received the Portland Cement Association Award for its work on the city's 1.35-million gallon water storage reservoir. The storage tank was recognized for "distinguished environmental consideration and architectural treatment." CDM provided the engineering on the storage tank. Kudos to Ed Hause, Jennifer Leone (Fort Lauderdale), and Bruce Murdock (Denver) for their work on the facility!
Go Jen!!!!
Remember: Kudos keeps the hunger away
I alphabetized my CD collection last night. I don't know why. In two days, they'll be all over the place again. Maybe I'll order them in keyboard order [qwertyuiopasdfghjklzxcvbnm]. Nah, that requires too much mental energy. I took invetory of all CDs that were lost/stolen, it's not pretty. I've come to the conclusion that there is a superiour alien race that is attempting to abduct my CDs. They appear to exhibit a weakness around my car, so they have to disable my vehicle to get my CDs. I think I used the word "CDs" to much in this post. I guess I could have said "Compact Disks". Why are they "Compact"? What are the compact in relation to? Vinyl? Not the same class. A compact car is smaller than a regular sized car. A trash compacter makes your trash smaller. So what is a CD a smaller version of? Maybe the aliens know.
This is an absolute injustice. What the hell is the Gainesville City Commission thinking?
I almost broke down and bought a webcam today so you all can see my pretty face while I do stupid things while sitting in front of my computer. I think I'll wait and get a good digital camera. That way, all you sick people who keep coming back here can enjoy every aspect of my life (except when I'm on the throne).
I'm supposed to do this thing tomorrow morning. Those of you who know, know, and those who don't, I'll fill you in later. You never know when the Thought Police could be reading this page. FACT: When I was hired at GTE, I had a link on my personal home page to Florida Crew which had a picture named pornstar.jpg which had eight rowers with each one haveing one of the letters from the word Pornstar. Of coarse, the people at GTE found this deep link, and asked me about it. Morale of the story: Don't ever ever ever ever list your web page on your resume because everything you link to will be part of your interview. Wow, did I ever digress, anyway, about this thing tomorrow, I really should prepare further in advance than 11:30 the night before. I'll fill you in in a few days.
BTW: The "vote" button is supposed to disappear if you don't choose the first one
I'm sure you will all be relieved to know that not one of the many great drinking establishments were injured in The Great Ybor Fire
I heard on the radio this morning that 2/3 of all Russian men die while intoxicated
Got my car back today!!!!!
42 days, $5819.81in damages, $2252.31 in car rentals.
The weekend was great. Went down to Sannibel Island to hand out with the folks. Since Mom was attending lectures all day, Dad and I took out the Waverunners. The Resort supplied us with a guide to show us where the best water was (and so we wouldn't get lost). Our Guide, Ian, gets paid to ride Waverunners all day. I'm quite jealous. I was also quite sore the next few days.
Saw The Cure. They played a 3 1/2 hour set. They were great! I was able to sell the two extra tickets in the parking lot, but at a reduced price. If I find a set list, I'll link to it.
Just got back from Nine Inch Nails. I don't think I would do Trent & Co. justice by trying to describe how amazing the show was. Noteable songs played (in album order and in no way a complete set list) Head like a Hole, Terrible Lie, Sin, Pinion, Wish, March of the Pigs, Piggy, Closer, Hurt, The Day the Whole World Went Away, The Frail, The Wretched, The Fragile, La Mer, The Great Below, Startfuckers Inc., and several of the insrumentals off of The Fragile. There were also a few songs which I did not recognize. If I find a complete set list somewhere, I will link to it.
Most noteable songs not played: We're in this together and Into the void. I was rather disappointed to not hear these two songs.
Travelling west on I-4 going home, we hit construction traffic (Yes at 11:45) around the Ybor exit. All of us were very hungry. So we exited the Interstate (Note, I-4 is actually an intrastate highway) and headed for Demy's Market in Ybor. I would like to take this time to apologize to my family who recently came to visit for neglecting to introduce them to Demy's Market Pizza. This will not happend again (But Jen got Loop!)
The plan was to leave for Lakeland to see NIN right after work. This would save me the drive to South Tampa and Back. A simple plan really. Not much room for error. Anyone with half a brain cell could get this right.
The Movie The Perfect Storm will open in theateres June 30th. The film is based in Gloucester, Mass. If you've had anything to do with Florida Crew in the past 6 years, you know that Gloucester is the hometown of Jim Looney. So go see the movie and learn more about where our good friend comes from.
Golfing with Dad on Friday may be cancelled because wildfires have shut down sections of I-75 near Sarasota. Isn't that ironic, not being able to play golf because it hasn't rained? Yesterday they said that the fires were under control and they'd be out by nightfall, but as of today, they are still ablaze. I'll have to keep watching
FYI: The times you see posted here are Pacific Times, so add three hours, and that's the actual time I'm posting.
News from the Body Shop: My car will be ready tomorrow, maybe Friday. I have now been without my car for 39 days. I may have to keep my rental for the weekend if it's not done by early Friday morning.
Since everyone is asking, blog is short for web-log which is a general term for an online journal
I have two extra tickets for The Cure, this Saturday at the Mars Music Ampitheater. They are $35 a piece, please email me at mgrasso@gte.net if you are interested in taking them off my hands. Or know someone who does
The "Building" guys came around today and installed new flourescant tubes in our overhead lights. These new "retina burner" models are 2000x brighter and can be seen from most of the outer planets. If you sit still long enough, you can feel the radiation seeping through your skin. On the bright side (hah!), I can get my work done and get a great tan in one 8 hour day, err, well at least get the tan.
I think Boar's Head should be declared the national coldcut.
I'm driving down to Sanibel Island Friday to play golf with Dad. I went to the driving range Sunday, hit pretty well, but I'm sore. Speaking of which, I went running on Bayshore today, and was passed by several mothers jogging and pushing strollers. I guess that means cardio needs to be worked on.
I'm going to be making some changes around here. The first thing to go is the background. (NOTE: Background is now gone) I think it makes it hard to read the text. I'm also working with JavaScript and GIF animations, so there will be some interesting things popping up around here. Oh, yeah, I'm going to add stuff to that other column over there.
My seven dream Jeapordy! categories would be:
- Nonconformity
- Being a Smart-Ass
- Sights seen along Bayshore (and I'm not talking houses)
- Writing stupid blogs at 1:33AM
- Avoiding telling people at parties what I do for a living so they
won't give me that blank stare which says "I have absolutely no
clue what you do"
- Losing CDs
- Leasing a car that's cursed
Jeapordy Categories thing borrowed from
Microserfs by Douglas Coupland - a must-read for programmers
I caught the video for Starsuckers by Nine Inch Nails on MTV. I think
my copy of The Fragile is defective, mine says Starfuckers
(See Jeapordy category number 2)
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!
The people accross the street thew a pretty decent party last night. The only problem is that some of their patrons insisted that I kept pounding tequila shots with them. Bastards! how dare they!
I think I'm starting to accept the loss of another CD case. While not on the scale of the 100-CD case stolen out of my car last year, the misplacement of this case added the following to my CD MIA list.
Bloodflowers - The Cure
The Fragile (Left) - Nine Inch Nails (NOTE: Right is in my changer)
Significant Other - Limp Bizkit
The Bends - Radiohead (Excuse me while I recompose myself)
OK Computer - Radiohead (I think I'll go pour myslef a glass of liquid drano)
Californication - Red Hot Chili Peppers
Vegas - The Crystal Method
...and about 10 others. (NOTE: I'd link to the above bands, but I'm kinda lazy)
Good luck to Tracy on her upcoming finals at the University of Miami School of Law
There is actually a site called www.com
I haven't been paged by work in over 28 hours!! This definately has to be a record.
Supposed to be going to Ybor tonight, but no word from Bob and Jeff, and Amy is playing UNO. So, I'm blogging and drinking whiskey. My neighbors accross the street are throwing a HUGE party. He came over last night and did the "I'm having a party, tell me if we're too loud, please don't call the cops, and you can come over" cover-my-ass bit, which really means only one thing... FREE BEER WHOO-HOO
Listen to the great Bender speak his words of wisdom
(Its a .wav file people, either turn your speakers on, or just sit there and go 'Huh?')
Nothing much going on a work today, just doing documentation. Using a doc++. It lets you put HTML tags in your header files, then reads all your code to produce a web page. It basically kicks ass. It's supposed to mimic JavaDoc.
Today's blogger lesson: If you resize any frames before you post, you've just lost your post. Doh!

I know, I know, its not much, but I'm working on it. Keep coming back, I'm sure you'll find something stimulating sometime.
