Da Duh Duh Duh Daa Daa Daa At last, college football is here again. Time to start talking all the smack, proclaiming your team's number 1 and everyone else sucks. I do admit, this year will be definately be different. Gator fans are gearing up, already stockpiling the ammunition. Yes, the senile old man in garnet and gold may pass the senile old man in blue and white, but something's missing. Nole's around the state are scratching their heads. Fields where visors where thrown to poke fun are empty. Video tapes documening late hits are nowhere to be found. He's gone. Now what? Let's see, let's check out the five biggest things FSU fans love to whine about:
  1. Spurrier - Gone
  2. Spurrier - Gone
  3. Spurrier - Gone
  4. Florida not playing Miami - Next Saturday!!!
  5. Spurrier - Gone
What about Zook? There's got to be something they can get there. Well, he talks really fast. He does. A lot faster than me. I guess they could set up contests where you have to figure out what he says. Hey, I'm just trying to help out here. It's too wierd. Zook and Bowden have actually done benefit events together. What the hell? Does this mean we have to start being nice to each other. And what about all this BCS crap? To quote Jim Mora, "Playoffs?!? You wanna talk about Playoffs?!?". We'll never see them in our lifetime. Way too much money in the bowl system right now, all 135 of them. I think this year they've added the NutraMax Douche Bowl. Of course the bowl system relies on the BCS, which relies on the AP and Coaches polls which rely on how long a sports writer takes to scratch his ass with a chewed up pencil. One could really go nuts pondering the workings of college football. However, I will leave you with this question:

If Florida beats Miami, Miami beats Tennessee, and Tennessee beats Florida, will Florida State still suck?

An entertaining Sunday Went and saw Lenny Kravitz at the Ice Palace on Sunday with Eric, Rob, and Ranee (and ran into Renee and Wendy). Wasn't going to go, but thought, what else did I have to do. I'm glad I went. I'm starting to think that the best shows are when you really don't know the performer's songs all that well. That way you can be surprised. Of course I knew a lot of his songs, like "Let Love Rule". He didn't actually finish that one. Apparently a fight broke out in the front row as he was singing. He stopped the band and made the two guys shake hands. Of course they were still thrown out. The other memorable moment was when he brought a guy up on stage that had a tatoo of Lenny on his arm. Man, what thrill for this guy. First of all, to have a tattoo of a singer on you arm probably signifies that you like someone more than what is healthy. But to be pulled on stage, given Lenny's guitar, and playing with the band. I thought that was really cool.

Thank you captain obvious. I read an article (I'd link to it if I could remember where it was) saying that people are more stressed now than they were 5 years ago. Hmm, 5 years ago was the summer of 1997, my last summer in college. I had no job, wasn't taking any classes, Hung out and drank beer almost every night, and slept into 1 or 2 in the afternoon every day. Yeah, I think that report is pretty acurate.

Toy Story 3 - G.I. Joe hijacks a plane. Security at Los Angeles International Airport disarmed the famous action figure G.I Joe while attempting to smuggle an assult rifle onto a plane. Mr. Joe's accomplice, a 9-year old British boy, was not apprehended, but cried a lot. LAX security officials were dispacted to the plane itself to make sure it didn't turn into a robot.

I think the old man's still got it! Well, It's around here somewhere. I getting used to this. After my first soccer game, I was in pain. My knees were shaking, my legs were numb, and I don't even want to tell you how the following few days went. During the half, I wondered how the hell I was going to get through the next 25 minutes, let alone the next 7 weeks. I was completely sucking air. For some reason, that second half was a alot easier than the first. My body had said to my mind, "Ok, I'm in a lot of pain, but I'll do whatever you say." I haven't done that since college. We ended up winning that game 4-1. Here after my third game, I'm doing pretty well. Exhausted yes, but my body has come to terms with what I'm putting it through every week. We dropped our last 2, but that's really due to personnel issues. Basicly no one showed up. Last week, there were four of us (including Eric who was a guest goalkeeper), and this week again there were only four. I had two keepers aligned to play tonight, but one (Eric) had "hurt his back" and two (Jenn) had to stay late at work. So guess who got to play goal? I knew I could do it. This was my position. Back on the field in PA, it was where I started. My roots. They scored five times in the first half. Hmm, maybe my roots have moved elsewhere. We ended up getting a real keeper for the second half who was scored on zero times. Oh yeah, back to the personnel thing. I has slightly mentioned in the first week that I was captain for a softball team for a few seasons. So now here I am, captain of a soccer team. Now I have to deal with people cancelling at the least minute, finding subs, and reminding everyone what time our games is every week. Would I have wanted it any other way? I think not.
