Finding any excuse Ok, so not only is it my civil duty to vote, but it also provides a great excuse to be late for work. So I roll out of bed at oh, 8:45, hop on the computer and send my boss an email. "I'm going to hit the polls before work, might be a little late", yadda yadda yadda. I finally stroll into the office around 10:00 with my blue "I voted" sticker prominantly displayed. Of course, half the office (who showed up on time) also has such stickers. Hmm, ok, "I got lost", I explained, "I couldn't find my polling place." It wasn't entirely a lie. I seriously couldn't find it. They sent me a map saying it was at Hyde Park Crafts on the SE corner of Swann and Howard. So I'm driving through the parking lot where Whiskey Park (formerly The Hydaway) is, but no luck. I finally found it. It was a portable on a softball field. Easy mistake, right? Who the hell could find such a place with all those "Vote here" signs obscuring it?

Doing one's doody, I mean duty. So tomorrow is election day. I have decided to vote. Never voted before. I know, I know, you can give all that "It's my duty", crap. It's not that I never wanted to, its just that I really didn't care. I'm the epitome of voter apathy. Ok, so lets see here, we're voting for a new governer, Jeb or Bill, Jeb or Bill, Beb or Jill? But after that, who cares. I'm looking at my sample ballot, and I have to vote whether some supreme justice should be retained? I'm not qualified to make such decisions. I couldn't even name any of the nine justices. Nine, right? Oh wait, that's a baseball team. I know that the whole point is so that everyone has a say, but come on, does everyone really deserve a say? I don't think so? I think the real voting should be reserved for the people who actually know what's going on. The rest of us should only get to vote for the things that directly affect our lives, like should there be instant replay in college, or who's gonna be the next American Idol. Yeah, that what I say, vote on issues that really matter, not cruelty to pigs or whatever.

Hi I'm back.

Like I have enough time. I'm going to try to expand my DVD library. I never really bought that many movies before. I'd really have to like the movie for me to want to own it. I have a lot of special stuff, like sports stuff and music documentaries/videos/live shows. So here's the real question, is it better to buy movies that you've already seen, or is it better to buy ones that you haven't. It would kinda suck to spend the $20 on a flick that sucks. I do have some sad news to report. My undermanned DVD library took a huge hit earlier this year. I loaned Fight Club to a co-worker of mine. Well then they guy gets all pissed off at our boss and just walks off the job. Gone. Never to be seen again. Coincidence? We think he's building an army right now. But goddamnit, he still has my Fight Club. It's been like four months, and I still haven't gotten around to calling him. yeah, "Hey what's up, how are you, did you find another job? Can I have my Fight Club back?" Oh well, maybe I should just concede and buy a new one.

What the hell, it's just money. I give up. I gave in. I quit fighting it. I've officially started paying all my bills online. I really don't know why I've had such a mental block towards it, I mean I helped develop an online bill pay system for hundreds of credit unions last year. I think its really a trust thing. I mean just sitting there writing the check kinda gives you this sense of closure. Once that check is signed, it's signed. Its GOING to be mailed and its GOING to be cashed by someone. But you don't get that with the online stuff. It's like, ok, click to authorize, then check back later to make sure it went through. But what if it didn't go through. What if the stupid computers think it went through, and they tell you, "oh yeah, don't worry about it, we paid that for you." Then your lights go out, your landlord throws you out, and some greasy haired guido named Vinny shows up with a baseball bat and takes your car away. So now you're lying there bleeding in the street. You could call for help, but your cell phone was shut off. Besides, no hospital would admit you since your all your medical bills went unpaid. So you log back on your account (provided you have one of those computers that doesn't require electricty) and your all your bills say "PROCESSED". Well isn't that's just great. Was it really worth it. Why did we ever abandon the check system? What was the worst thing that could happen? Get a paper cut trying to seal the envelop? I've gotten used to it. I guess we'll have to wait and see. Maybe it'll really be as good as they say. Maybe I will be able to pay my bills anytime, anywhere. wow. I really wish you all could see the joy on my face.
