Public Service Announcement From Dad... It seems that car thieves have found yet another way to steal your car or truck without any effort at all. The car thieves peer through the windshield of your car or truck, write down the VIN # from the label on the dash, go to the local car dealership and request a duplicate key based on the VIN #. In an attempt to disprove the scheme, a friend of mine called the Chrysler Dodge pretending to have lost their car keys. They were told to just bring in the VIN #, and a new key would be made for them on the spot. An offer was even given to order a keyless device from the Car Dealer's Parts Department.

With this new scheme, car thieves no longer have to break into your car or do any damage to your vehicle. They also avoid drawing attention to themselves. All a car thief has to do is walk up to your car, insert the key and drive off to a local Chop Shop with your vehicle. Don't believe it? Trust me, it IS that easy. To avoid this from happening to you, simply put some tape (electrical tape, duct tape or medical tape) across the VIN Metal Label located on the dash board. A 3x5 index card works well too. By law, you cannot remove the VIN#, but you can cover it up so it can't be viewed through the windshield by a car thief. To make others aware of this latest scheme, please forward this email to your family and friends so they can avoid becoming the next person who looses their vehicle to a slick car thief

How to get a free DVD or $7.10 MGM got busted. For the past 4 years, they've been taking fullscreen editions of DVD's, stripping off the top and bottom, and selling them as widescreen. That's pretty shitty. So, if you own any movies on this list, you can turn them in for a new movie, or $7.10. Here's all the info.

I think my head is going to explode! ESPN now supports XML RSS feeds. Ooooh! Sports and Geek all in one. Seriously, this technology is absolutely amazing. You use an "Aggregator" (I use Sharp Reader)which goes out to all your favorite sites and scans it for new content. When new articles are found, it downloads the headlines. You can then browse through the headlines and read the articles you want.

And yes, Visual Distorion also has an RSS Feed!

Cars can now catch viruses I just read an article (and for some reason can't link it) on how newer Lexus models are being infected with viruses. The virus is uploaded to the car's computer using a bluetooth device. The attacker can transmit the virus while standing outside the car. That's pretty scary. Considering all the luxury auto guys are racing to get bluetooth enabled cars out there, nobody really stopped to consider things like this. The only feature that is affected is the navigation system.

We're now online Our address is not mappable on MapQuest. I know people who have lived in their houses for over a year and still aren't listed. I guess we're lucky.
