I've noticed something a little, I guess "cute", but kinda out of place at Wachovia. A lot of the names of internal stuff starts with "fun". fun-mail, fun-directory, fun-services, fun-web, fun-exchage, etc.

So I asked my manager, "So is this just some kind of lame corporate attempt to subliminally inject the employees with the notion that everything here is all happy and fun?"

He gave me the same look Beth gives me when I say something that I probably shouldn't.

"No," he said, "It's short for First Union"

Oops.

I guess "fun" was a better abbreviation than "FU"
